Forest companies are required to maintain certain environmental targets with regard to forest management practices.

This relates to meeting both their own industry standards and methods of best practice, as well as local resource management planning objectives.

Increasingly, forest companies are taking a more proactive approach to managing their operations.

Envirolink has been working with a number of forestry operators, and has established hydrological networks to monitor effects on water quality such as water clarity, turbidity, ecology, stream sediment loadings and water temperature.

This generally requires setting up sensors connected to dataloggers, which are often linked by telemetry to Envirolink's office to enable real time monitoring of field conditions.

For a number of years we have been responsible for maintaining fire weather warning stations on behalf of forest owners under the auspices of the National Rural Fire Authority (NRFA).
